One of My Favorite Days in Vermont Was at Bragg Farm Sugarhouse & Gift Shop in East Montpelier, Vermont. Bragg Farm has been making its own pure Vermont maple syrup for a whopping eight generations, and their farm is a fun and relaxing place to stop by for a bit.
By the time we visited Bragg Farm, we weren’t feeling very touristy. We wanted to get out of the hotel, but we really just wanted a place to sit, relax, and let Small Shaw play. That’s exactly what we found at Bragg Farm.
My mom and I wandered through the Gift Shop and the Maple Ice Cream Parlor while my Dad scoped out the Adirondack chairs on the back porch with Small Shaw.
The Gift Shop had Vermont crafts, cookbooks, clothes, specialty foods, and all sorts of Vermont Maple products and cheese. They’ll even ship your purchases home for you if you want them to!
The Ice Cream Parlor was basically the same thing as the gift shop, but it was so good! Vermonters call soft-served ice cream cones, “creemies,” and I had my very first Vermont Maple-flavored creamy at Bragg Farm.
We did some really good porch-sittin’ that afternoon, but there was also a swing set, goats, and bunny rabbits for the kids to swing on look at, and feed. It was a lot of fun, and totally relaxing. The views, alone, were worth buying a creamy and sitting down for a few minutes.
If you find yourself near Montpelier, Vermont next summer, head over to Bragg Farm, get yourself a creemy, and pull up an Adirondack chair. I think you’ll enjoy it just as much as we did.
