Grace in Small Things

There’s so much to be thankful for this week!

I received two pieces of mail this week from friends in the U.S. Both of them made me happy, and — I’m not gonna lie — made me feel kind of awesome inside. I’m so lucky to have thoughtful friends in my life. Thank you JS and J&RR!

My Husband
Do you ever have times when you know that the only explanation for your spouse’s incredible patience with and love for you is that he/she is a saint from Heaven? Yep, I had a couple of those days this week. My husband is a good man.

It’s been cool and rainy for most of our first month in Germany, but this weekend has been glorious. We’ve had warm weather and lots of sunshine, and we’ve taken advantage of it with bike rides, farmers markets and street fairs.

My New Wheels
I found a killer commuter bike on Saturday at the Wiesbaden bicycle exchange. It’s an old-school steel-framed city bike. Royal blue and chrome. I’ve named her Blue Beauty. I rode her home from the Saturday farmer’s market wearing a sun dress and carrying our groceries and potted flowers in her basket. Oh, so European! Oh, so awesome. I love her.

Our Household Goods (HHG) Arrived

They arrived on Friday, and except for a few dings and scratches, they made the voyage safely. Our apartment is mostly set up now, and after 11 weeks living from suitcases it it feels good to be surrounded by our own things ands sleeping in our own bed again.

What little things made your week brighter?

Are there any small graces that have touched you this week?

Did anyone in your life do something that made your week a little happier?
