I may have over-committed myself near the end of 2014. I volunteered for a few things, made some family plans, got excited about hosting our “Army Orphan Thanksgiving” again this year, and then saw a big influx in freelance work. Suddenly I was in over my head.
Juggling work and life can be a lot of fun though, and although late 2014 was a lesson in the perils of taking on more than I can handle, there was one thing I dearly loved about it: All the baking!
Between late mid-November and early December, I baked:
- 6 pumpkin pies
- 110 cake sugar cookies for decorating
- 4 dozen, family secret recipe sugar cookies
- 36 homemade rolls
- 1 chocolate turtle pie
We organized a bake sale, lead a large holiday party, attended a Battalion holiday party, and hosted Thanksgiving for eight adults, two dogs, and a baby. I love the holidays, I love baking, and I feel pretty blessed that this year we were in the position to help make the holidays a little more special for families like ours who were so far from home during the holiday season.
Happy New Year to you and yours from MilliGFunk.com. May your 2015 be filled with health, happiness, and lots of homemade goodies. 🙂
