Adopting Doris

My mom just left my house after a week-long visit together. It was such a comfort having her here, and I looked forward to her visit for weeks before she arrived. Now that it’s behind us, I have to shift my eyes to the next horizon: the arrival of a sweet girl named Doris.

Doris is a Trek Madone 5.5 road bike that I’ll be receiving very soon from my mother-in-law, who has ridden her and loved her for the last two years or so. After upgrading to a newer bike, she offered Doris to me, and I’ve gladly accepted. Isn’t she a beauty?

I think she’s going to look awfully pretty with the Rocky Mountains in the background.

I look forward to giving Doris a loving home, and to many miles of riding together with Nick when he comes home from Afghanistan.

Until then, Doris will be my new deployment therapist – helping me manage the stress of the months between now and the day my husband comes home.
